Sui Dhaga
Sui Dhaga is a flagship initiative by Jan Sharnam dedicated to empowering women by nurturing their skills in sewing, embroidery, and garment making. Through this program, we aim to transform traditional craftsmanship into a source of sustainable livelihood, helping women gain financial independence, self-confidence, and a stronger voice in their communities. By providing training, resources, and market linkages, Sui Dhaga enables women to turn their talents into thriving micro-enterprises, contributing to both their families and the broader economy.
The Challenges
Women in underserved communities often face systemic barriers—limited access to education, lack of vocational training, economic dependency, and social restrictions. Many are unable to support their families or explore their potential simply due to a lack of opportunity and skill-based employment. These challenges make them vulnerable to exploitation and limit their self-worth.
Our Mission
At Jan Sharnam we believe that every woman deserves the opportunity to grow, thrive, and lead a life of dignity. Our Silai Centres in Badarpur and Khureji are dedicated to empowering women by equipping them with valuable skills in sewing, embroidery, and garment making. By transforming old clothes into beautiful, useful products, these women not only learn sustainable practices but also build a pathway toward financial independence.
Why It Matters
Empowering a woman creates a ripple effect that strengthens families, uplifts communities, and drives long-term change. When women are equipped with skills and confidence, they become agents of transformation. Jan Sharnam training has already helped over 200 women become skilled artisans, enabling them to earn a livelihood, support their children’s education, and contribute meaningfully to society.
